CHC41808 Certificate IV in Youth Work

This qualification covers workers who develop and co-ordinate programs for young people through a range of community-based programs designed to address the social, behavioural, health, welfare, developmental and protection needs of young people.

Such work may be undertaken through employment in community, government and welfare agencies and will be responsible for implementing policies and guidelines of the employing organisation. The worker will largely be self directed and have fairly autonomous decision making capacity under the indirect supervision of a manager. Workers at this level are required to have an understanding of Indigenous culture and history and to work with local communities in the provision of services.

Occupations may include:

" Community Development Worker (Youth)
" Youth and family Resource Officer
" Co-ordinator, Youth Service
" Co-ordinator, Youth and Family Services

For the CHC41808 Certificate IV in Youth Work learners must be assessed as competent in 16 units of competency (12 core and 4 electives).
Learners finishing their participation with less than the requirements for the full qualification will be given with a Statement of Attainment showing the completed units.

Because units of competency are nationally recognised and are used in a range of Community Services qualifications, they can provide a pathway into Community Services qualifications or qualifications in related industry sectors such as disability or aged care work. Units can also progressively be gained to meet the requirements of other qualifications.

St. Mark's Emerald have had a solid and consistent ministry with youth for the last few decades. They are one of the youth ministries in Australia for whom I have enormous respect. Wayne Collins ministers with authenticity and integrity, and I'm sure that any college associated with him will be a huge blessing to the nation - and to the world"
